Inaugural planners are barring strollers and baby carriages from the ceremony. You’ll have to carry the baby for hours. The weather will probably be cold and wet. And there won’t be any place to change those diapers.
This warning comes via a second advisory from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. The advisory applies to those with the 240,000 tickets to the swearing-in ceremony at the West Front of the Capitol, not to those who may gather on the Mall.
But like the first advisory, this one carries a clear subtext: Stay home! In this case, it carries a second message: At least leave the baby at home! Repress the impulse to make it possible for the little bundle of joy to be able to tell his or her grandchildren about being a witness to history.
Me and mini me will be vacationing while we can, before the inevitable onslaught.
